Last chance for Cape Town PowerBall winner to collect – or risk losing R7.5 million

The final chance for the Cape Town winner of the PowerBall Plus draw exactly a year ago to collect his – or her – prize, has dawned.

ITHUBA, operators of the National Lottery, have confirmed that a Cape Town winner is yet to claim R7 547 468 from PowerBall Plus draw No 1 255 which took place on 3 December 2021.

The winning ticket was purchased at Ravensmead Supermarket in Cape Town, but at the time of publishing, the player had not come forward to claim the money.

Players have 365 days (one year) to claim their winnings after the draw date.

If this particular jackpot prize remains unclaimed, it will expire on Saturday, 3 December 2022.

What happens to unclaimed PowerBall prizes?

In case you weren’t aware, unclaimed prizes that expire will be used towards the National Lottery Distribution Fund, as well as towards other jackpot prize pools.

“We would like to urge our Ravensmead players, as well our players from across the country, to check all their unclaimed winnings as soon as possible.

“We would further like to emphasise that winners who present expired tickets, will not be paid out.

“We have a team of financial advisors who are on standby to ready to provide advice to our winners, as well as psychologists who will provide trauma counseling,” said ITHUBA CEO Charmaine Mabuza.
