KZN man arrested for stabbing woman with beer bottle in front of kids

A 49-year-old man has been arrested by the SAPS for allegedly stabbing a woman with a beer bottle, numerous times.

The arrest of a 49-year-old man has been confirmed by KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) South African Police Service (SAPS). The man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a woman numerous times in front of her three children on Tuesday, 28 June.

How did the suspect stab the woman?

The time of the incident is reportedly 11:30 according to police spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo. 

“The complainant alleged she was on Silverglen Drive in Bayview when she was approached by a known suspect who instructed her to follow him to Aviswood grounds in Silvergen. An argument ensued, the suspect assaulted her with a beer bottle on the head and stabbed her on the body,”

said Ngcobo.

The woman was taken to hospital and the suspect was arrested

The victim was swiftly transported to the hospital after being treated and stabilised on the scene by Amawele Emergency Services. The arrest was made by Bayview police. The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Chatsworth Magistrate’s Court on charges of attempted murder. 

Calls of a stabbing incident were received by Claude Subramodey of Amawele Emergency Services, reports IOL.

“On arrival, we found a 36-year-old victim with multiple stab wounds on her head and body. She was left for dead. The woman was treated on scene and stabilised before being rapidly transported to hospital for further medical care,”

said Subramodey.

KZN: Double murder suspect arrested after being on the run

In other news about murders in KZN, it was previously reported the South African Police Service (SAPS) in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) managed to arrest a 38-year-old man who had been wanted by them for the brutal killing of two women in Pietermaritzburg.

The suspect was nabbed by a police officer who had grown suspicious after seeing him in the Bluff area on 14 June 2022.

“When he saw the police officer he dropped his head and walked into the shop. The officer became suspicious and alerted his colleague about his suspicions. He then followed the man inside the shop while his colleague stood guard at the entrance of the shop. When he approached the man who was at the till he noticed that he was trying to avoid eye contact with him. The police identified the man as a wanted suspect for a double murder that was circulated recently,” said SAPS KZN spokesperson Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo in a statement.

The man was subsequently arrested and detained at Brighton Beach SAPS, he was charged with two counts of murder, robbery and theft of a motor vehicle. Read the full story here.
