KZN: Four injured in a head-on collision on the R620 in Ramsgate

Paramedics said several people were critically injured in various accidents that happened in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng on Sunday.

Several people were injured in various accidents that happened on Sunday in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng.

Four people were injured when two cars crashed head-on on the R620 in Ramsgate in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday afternoon.

According to Netcare 911 spokesperson Shawn Herbst, the accident happened around 15h50.

“Reports indicate that two cars were involved in a head-on collision.
When medics arrived on the scene, they found that one person had sustained critical injuries and was resuscitated on the scene before being rushed to the hospital for stabilisation.”

He said three other occupants had sustained moderate injuries and were treated on scene before being transported to a hospital for further care by a private ambulance.

Earlier on Sunday, responded to another head-on collision on Edendale Road, direction Taylors Halt in Edendale.

“Medics assessed the scene and found that multiple occupants including children had sustained moderate to serious injuries.”

Herbst said all the patients were treated on scene and once stabilised were transported by various ambulance services to the hospital for further care.

Meanwhile, in Gauteng two men were critically injured after they were ejected from their vehicle following a roll-over.

“Reports indicate that two adult males were ejected from their vehicle following a roll-over.

“Medics assessed the scene and found that both occupants had sustained critical injuries.”

He said paramedics treated both patients, and once stabilised, one patient was flown by Netcare 911 helicopter to a hospital, and the second patient was transported by ambulance to a hospital for further care.
