Kuils River double murder: Two foreign nationals shot and killed in cellphone shop

Two men were shot and killed in a cellphone shop in Kuils River, Cape Town on Tuesday afternoon. Two suspects are being questioned.

The police in Kuils River, Cape Town are investigating a shooting incident on the main road of the town that left two people dead on Tuesday afternoon, 21 June.

KUILS RIVER DOUBLE MURDER

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg told The South African the incident took place at a cellular shop in the Shoprite Centre in Van Riebeeck Road.

According to reports, two unknown suspects allegedly entered the shop and shot the two victims who happen to be foreign.

“The victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel,” said Twigg.

The City of Cape Town’s Metro Police arrested two suspects in the area at approximately 14:25 after receiving a tip-off about an armed robbery.

The officers tracked down two suspects who fit the description they were given and cornered them in Belhar Road below the bridge that leads to Sarepta, Kuils River.

The suspects were found in possession of a .38 revolver with five used rounds of ammunition and one live round. They also had a blank firing pistol with four bullets.

“The officers were later informed that the suspects were linked to a double murder at the Shoprite complex in the Kuils River CBD,” said Metro Police spokesperson Ruth Solomons.

The suspects – aged 20 and 21 – were detained at the local police station, said Solomons.

Sergeant Twigg confirmed the Kuils River police are investigating a double murder case. “Detectives are currently questioning two people that could possibly be linked to the crime,” he said.
