Eight women raped on the set of music video in Krugersdorp

Police and other emergency services are still on the scene where the shooting of a music video went terribly wrong on Friday. A group of about 20 armed thugs stormed the set.

THE SHOOTING OF THE MUSIC VIDEO TOOK PLACE IN KRUGERSDORP

The 20 men wearing Basotho blankets and balaclavas allegedly fired several shots in the air while ordering everyone to lay down.

Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says a production company was shooting a music video on Thursday when they were attacked by a group of armed men.

The men allegedly fired several shots in the air and ordered everyone to lay down before raping the women in nearby bushes.

“Eight of the victims were allegedly raped by the suspects before robbing them of their belongings,” says Muridili.

Provincial police commissioner Elias Mawela has mobilised maximum resources to hunt down the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa says he has instructed Police Minister Bheki Cele to leave no stone unturned in bringing the men to book.

He was speaking at the ANC policy conference in Nasrec on Friday morning.

“This morning we just heard of the horrible incident where a number of women in our country were abused.

“We have directed the minister of police and law enforcement agencies to immediately embark on this to make sure that the perpetrators of this crime are apprehended and dealt with. Comrade Bheki Cele has already been there, and we are following up on this horrible incident.”

Ramaphosa said.

EIGHT WOMEN WERE ALLEGEDLY RAPED IN THE ATTACK

While it has not yet been confirmed, speculations were on Friday made about the music video and if it was indeed the music video of the Mphemphe Music Video Shoot that was planned for Saturday in Krugersdorp.

The public was invited to participate in the music video and was asked to wear colourful clothes.
