Former President Jacob Zuma has made another public appearance as he is accompanied by one of his wives at King Misuzulu’s ceremony.

Former President Jacob Zuma has arrived at Zulu king Misuzulu ka Zwelithini’s certificate of recognition handing over ceremony at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban KwaZulu-Natal.

According to the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government 2500 international guests including heads of state, kings and queens, judiciary legislatures, diplomats as well as the business sector.

KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Nomusa Dube-Ncube said due to the magnitude and significance of this once in a life time event they are anticipating a huge attendance and as such an overflow venue has been arranged at the People’s Park both in the East and West wings and public viewing screens will be installed to accommodate as many people as possible.


As previously reported, Misuzulu was officially recognised by Ramaphosa on 16 March 2022, in terms of Section 8(3)(a) and (b) of the Traditional and Khoi-San Leadership Act, 2019.

According to the Presidency, in terms of the requirements of the Act, the Royal Family identified (then) Prince Misuzulu Sinqobile Zulu as the person who qualifies in terms of customary law and customs to assume the position of king and applied to the President for his recognition.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will officially and formally hand over the certificate of recognition which he issued earlier this year. 

Ramaphosa is also expected to deliver the keynote address at the event which is themed “LIPHUMILE ILANGA KWAZULU – THE SUN HAS RISEN ON THE ZULU NATION”.

Minister of Human Settlements Mmamoloko Kubayi and Minister of Police Bheki Cele are amongst the guests who have arrived as various groups of people are starting to fill the stadium which can accommodate 48 000 people. .

King Misuzulu is expected to arrive at the Moses Mabhida Stadium anytime from now as his convoy was expected to leave the undisclosed location where he was preparing himself before 11:00.
