A not so Merry Christmas for the children of Cornelius and Angie Belling. Fortunately, the kids were not injured in the “domestic that went drastically out of hand”.

A South African couple living in Ireland knifed each other to death in front of their three and five year old children.

Angie Belling, 27, ran out of a house in Kildysart, Co Clare with stab wounds on her chest and neck. She was pronounced dead at the scene. A child was heard screaming from the house. Garda (the Irish police force) went in to investigate and found Angie Belling’s husband, Cornelius Belling, 44, in an upstairs bedroom. He too sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two young children were carried out of the house, wrapped in blankets by Gardai. It is believed that the children were not injured.

A senior source said: “At the moment this is likely to be a case of the couple stabbing each other. This would appear to be a domestic that went drastically out of hand.”

A police spokesperson confirmed that they were not looking for a third party in connection with the double killing.

The Bellings were originally from South Africa and had only moved to Ireland two months ago.
