An eight-year-old girl, who was kidnapped outside her school in Rylands, Cape Town, was found alive on Monday evening, 14 November. She was abducted 10 days ago.

KIDNAPPED CHILD RESCUED ON MONDAY

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg said police members from specialised units and the City of Cape Town’s law enforcement used state-of-the-art technology to track Abirah Dekhta to a shack in Town Two, Khayelitsha on Monday.

“The intelligence-led integrated operation saw forces descending on the township where the young girl was found. She has since been sent to a doctor for a medical assessment,” said Twigg.

The kidnapped child will be reunited with her family after the medical assessment is completed. Meanwhile, the kidnapping investigation continues.

Detectives are currently questioning several people and arrests are imminent.
