Couple, aged 63 and 59, shot in the head – police launch manhunt

The police are investigating a double murder after a couple was found with gunshot wounds to the head in the Eastern Cape.

The Eastern Cape police have launched a manhunt for the suspects who allegedly shot and killed a man and woman in Kamesh in the early hours of Monday morning, 18 April.

POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR DOUBLE MURDER SUSPECTS

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said officers responded to a reported shooting at approximately 2:30 on Monday.

At a house in Kabah, Kamesh, the bodies of a man and woman were found lying in the front door. Both had been shot in the head.

The deceased were identified as Isaac Moses, 63, and Merlin Alkenstead, 59, said the police spokesperson.

“The suspects are unknown at this stage and the motive for the shooting is under investigation. Police are investigating two cases of murder,” said Janse van Rensburg.

The police are requesting members of the public that have information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact Detective Warrant Officer Hein Swanepoel who is stationed at the Kamesh police station at 071 475 2294.
