Roodepoort murder: Heavily pregnant woman hung from a tree

A crime of exceptional brutality has been reported in Roodepoort, Gauteng: The grim discovery of Tshegofastso Pule is being investigated by police.

The disgraceful gender-based violence epidemic hasn’t gone anywhere, even in the middle of our coronavirus crisis. Tshegofastso Pule was found hanging from a tree in the veld near Roodepoort, after being brutally stabbed by her assailant, sparking an urgent murder investigation from the police.

Locals demand justice after Tshegofastso Pule ‘hung from tree’

Tshego was last seen at the West Lake Complex near Florida. The 28-year-old has been missing since Thursday evening, and left her home wearing gym clothes, a black cap and Nike sneakers. Details of what lead to her attack remain sketchy. But the next day, a grim discovery was made.

Police revealed that they found the body after being alerted by a member of the public. After recovering Tshegpofastso Pule, officers confirmed that she was eight months pregnant at the time of her killing.

No arrests have yet been made, and the JHB South District of Roodepoort SAPS will be under tremendous pressure to catch this killer. They are, however, in the process of trying to identify the driver of an unknown grey jeep – the last vehicle Pule was seen entering. Meanwhile, the following statement has been released by the local law enforcement team, who elaborated on the grisly details of the case.

“JHB South District Roodepoort SAPS murder on 2020/06/05 at about 11:00, unknown African female of about 18 years of age was found hanging on the tree with a stab wound on the left nipple of her chest. The deceased was found by a member of the community hanging on the tree then notified the police and the deceased is also confirmed to be pregnant.”
