JUST IN! Security officer shot eight times in head, body for firearm

The body of an off-duty security officer who was shot eight times in his head and body for his firearm in Canelands, KwaZulu-Natal, was found on Saturday morning.

JUST IN, THE BODY OF THE OFFICER WAS FOUND ON SATURDAY MORNING

According to Reaction Unit SA (RUSA) spokesperson Prem Balram, a passerby made the gruesome discovery.

“The body of an off-duty Security Officer was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in an informal area in Canelands – KZN on Saturday morning.

“A passerby made the discovery at 07:57 and contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) for assistance.”

He said RUSA paramedics found that the victim was fatally injured in the shooting.

“He sustained eight ( gunshot wounds to his head, chest, and both arms. A holster was recovered on him; however, it has been confirmed that his personal firearm was missing.

“The security officer was dressed in civilian clothing at the time of the incident.”

HE WAS SHOT EIGHT TIMES AND ROBBED OF HIS FIREARM

Balram said a case of murder is being investigated.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, the body of a man who was bludgeoned to death was discovered on Alex Bean Road in Canelands – KZN on Friday morning.

“A passerby contacted Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) at 06:38 after he made the discovery. Reaction Officers were dispatched to the scene and, on arrival, found an unidentified male lying in a prone position. He was dressed in his underwear.”

Balram said upon examination of the man, he was found to have suffered severe head trauma, which resulted in his demise.

A bloodied rock was located next to his body which was in a state of rigor mortis.

“The deceased is believed to have been bludgeoned to death. The motive for the murder was not immediately established.”
