John Steenhuisen wants Cyril Ramaphosa and six other ANC cronies to face the state capture inquiry

Should Cyril Ramaphosa be summoned to the state capture inquiry? John Steenhuisen believes the commission has no other choice.

DA Chief Whip John Steenhuisen has insisted that Cyril Ramaphosa must be called upon to testify in the state capture inquiry, after his years of service under Jacob Zuma.

The commission, lead by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, has already played host to bombshell revelations from Mcebisis Jonas and Vytjie Mentor. The ANC representatives have both stated how the Gupta brothers were running the country, with Jacob Zuma’s permission.

Why does Steenhuisen want Cyril Ramaphosa to face the state
capture inquiry?

Allegations of the Guptas influencing appointments and policy decisions date back as far as 2010. Cyril Ramaphosa became the deputy president of the ANC back in 2014. As Zuma’s right-hand man, it’s suggested he too would have seen the Indian billionaires greasing the wheels of state capture at some point.

Steenhuisen insisted that there must be “no holy cows” in this investigation:

“The former and current presidents of the ANC, Jacob Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa, were in charge of the government the Party led during the height of State Capture. They must both be called to testify before the Zondo Commission so that we may learn what role they played.”

“It has taken an enormous amount of time and work to get to this point, and we cannot allow the Zondo Commission to leave any stones unturned. There can be no holy cows.”

Just last week, Ramaphosa and Steenhuisen were exchanging cigars and sharing a laugh in Parliament. However, the opposite factions seem to have resumed normal service for now.

The John Steenhuisen hit-list

In fact, it’s not just Cyril who John Steenhuisen wants to see in the dock. He’s drawn up a hit-list of six other ANC stooges that have some role to play in this grand heist:

Mosebenzi Zwane: While he was Free State’s MEC for Agriculture, he oversaw the Estina Dairy Farm fraud. The scheme was a money-laundering front for the Guptas, and Zwane was a willing participant in helping them with the cover-up.

Malusi Gigaba: He’s in hot water for fast-tracking the Gupta brothers’ naturalisation process. An absolute fiasco that he attempted to lie his way out of, before failing miserably.

Des van Rooyen: The ex-finance minister for a grand total of three days has been implicated by Mcebisi Jonas, for knowingly accepting a role in order to benefit the billionaires.

Lynne Brown: Was largely ineffective during her time as public enterprises minister, which ran alongside the Guptas’ supposed stranglehold on South Africa.

Tom Moyane: The man who dismantled the SARS service from the inside and kept the Guptas – as well as Jacob Zuma and his keepers – safe from any suspicion.

Artur Fraser: Diverted classified information for the state and hoarded it for himself. He’d be a tough nut to crack, but whatever he knows, the state capture inquiry must also know.
