Joburg man kidnapped, his family contacted for ransom

Marçal Francisco left work, a butchery,fruit and vegetable shop on Saturday before his truck was pulled over, window broken, and kidnapped.

A Joburg businessman was kidnapped over the weekend, and his family has been contacted for an undisclosed ransom amount.

THE MAN WAS FORCEFULLY REMOVED FROM HIS TRUCK

According to Private investigator Mike Bolhuis the businessman, Marçal Francisco, left his work, a butchery and fruit and vegetable shop on 138 Main Street in Rosettenville, at around 19:00 on Saturday.

“Around the corner from the premises, another car pulled his truck over, broke his window, and the perpetrators abducted him.

“His family was contacted for an undisclosed ransom amount.”

Bolhuis said it has happened to another employee as well, but the person was fortunately returned unharmed.
At around 19:00.

“Specialised security services call upon the public for any information concerning this very serious incident.”

Police could not yet confirm the incident nor provide more information.

Meanwhile, an elderly couple was repeatedly stabbed last month when their son held them hostage in their home.

According to Reaction Unit SA spokesperson Prem Balram the couple were rescued when the SAPS Task Force stormed a bedroom where the son had barricaded himself and his parents.

“An elderly couple is received medical attention after they were repeatedly stabbed by their son while being held hostage at their flat in Dhalia Road in Buffelsdale, Tongaat.”

Balram said the 34-year-old son was taken into custody at approximately 02:39 by the SAPS Task Force after they stormed a bedroom where he barricaded himself and his parents.

“The son was armed with a kitchen knife which he used to stab his 79-year-old father and 68-year-old mother repeatedly.

“The man is believed to be bipolar; however, this could not be confirmed.”

Paramedics from Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) treated the couple for multiple stab wounds before transporting them to a medical facility.

Balram said the motive for the attack has not been confirmed at this stage.
