ANC regional leaders in KwaZulu-Natal took a trip to the homestead of former president Jacob Zuma on Tuesday. The visit to Nkandla came ahead of July’s ANC provincial elective conference.

VISIT IS TO SHOW SOLIDARITY WITH ZUMA

Ntuthuko Mahlaba the regional chairperson of Mbuso Kubheka says that the visit to Nkandla was to show support for Zuma.

“Our aim is to go and show solidarity to him because Zuma is one of our leaders and we want to assure him he is not alone. We don’t want him to feel isolated,”

says Mahlaba.

Zuma is expected to be showered with gifts such as livestock by the attending regional leaders on Tuesday.

Nkandla is allegedly still under the watchful eye of uMkhonto we Sizwe veterans to ensure the homestead’s security.

The former statesman is currently facing corruption charges and is due to appear in court in August this year.

ANC WAS IN NKANDLA LAST WEEK

Last week Thursday droves of supporters from across KZN attended a prayer for Zuma.

The attendees included ANC provincial chairperson, Sihle Zikalala, Health MEC Nomagugu Simelane, former MEC Weziwe Thusi, Bishop Vusi Dube, the founder of eThekwini Community Church, and Zandile Gumede’s supporters’ spokesperson Ntando Khuzwayo.

Zuma was released from the Estcourt correctional facility last year on medical parole after being jailed for contempt of court last year.

He was found in contempt after the Constitutional Court ordered him to appear before the State Capture Commission and he did not attend.

The controversy surrounding the granting of medical parole has plagued Zuma and has been seen as a cause of much stress for the politician.
