Jacob Zuma ‘bleeding South Africans dry’
Questions by the opposition in parliament revealed that R9 million has been spent on SUVs for el presidente’s wives, not to mention the rest of the executive’s bulging budget.
Following an inquiry by DA MP Zak Mbhele in parly, police minister Nkosinathi Nhleko wrote in a response that a total of R8.6 million was spent on luxury VIP vehicles for the president’s wives between 2013 and 2016.
The DA responded by saying that Zuma is “bleeding South Africans dry” while the money could have been spent on education or additional policing.
Eleven SUVs, including Range Rovers, Land Rover Discoveries and Audis were purchased for Zuma’s wives to, in the words of Nhleko, provide “comprehensive protection of VIP spouses.”
Mbhele slated the buying of “lavish VIP vehicles” for Zuma’s wives.
EWN reports that the total amount spent on el presidente’s spouses came to R15.7 million, the highest amount spent to date.
