It’s a ‘fact’ that the ANC will take Cape Town in August, Zuma says

While on the campaign trail in Cape Town, Zuma said he’s 100% confident the ANC will take back the City of Cape Town.

Back in 2011 the Democratic Alliance secured Cape Town with a 61% overall majority, leaving the ANC with just 33% of the vote, but Zuma I confident that the ruling party will take the city from the DA.

“It’s not just a question of lowering down the percentage or the number, but I think it’s a question of the ANC taking over the metro and I think that is backed by facts,” Zuma said… although it’s unclear where he gets his facts.

The president added that, according to him, the internal conflicts within the ruling party’s Western Cape branch have been resolved.

“The ANC is working hard throughout the country but I think here in the Western Cape they’ve really pitched the standard. The people I’ve met were very clear of what they want to do on 3 August.”

Zuma was adamant that the Western Cape ANC has finally found its unity, even while the party’s chairperson in the province, Marius Fransman, claims there is a plot within the party’s provincial structures to oust him…

“I found today that the leadership in the Western Cape is united and they’re working together in harmony. That, in itself, is an important point for them to uproot in the province.”
