South African actor Israel Matseke has spoken out against rumours that he will be starring in a big Hollywood movie. According to the actor, contrary to popular belief, he will not be starring in a movie alongside US actor Samuel L Jackson any time soon.

The star criticised people for constantly spreading rumours about him.

Israel Matseke NOT starring in Samuel L Jackson movie

Many South Africans were over the moon when rumours started circulating that homegrown actor Israel Matseke would star in an international movie.

The rumour started when one Twitter user took to the app to congratulate the former Gomora actor who he claimed would be starring alongside Samuel L Jackson in a Netflix project.

The post sparked a number of reactions including one from Thabo Rametsi who took to Instagram to sing Matseke’s praises for landing such a significant role.

“I’ve always considered Mr Samuel L Jackson the Israel Matseke Zulu of America. If this is real I hope there is no language censorship. Because it’s going to be the most entertaining vulgar project ever. LOL,” he wrote excitedly.

So not true

The news quickly got to Matseke who dismissed it as a rumour.

Speaking to TimesLive on Friday this week, Matseke shared that he was not starring in any international films any time soon and that it was all a big rumour.

He added that this rumour reminds him of a time when some people claimed he had died.

“It’s all lies. I don’t know anything about it. You know how social media is. There was even a time when they said I was dead, so I think it’s one of those things,” he said.
