Opportunism truly knows no bounds for the lowest of the low. Two women in Isipingo, south of Durban, have both been shot dead in what appears to be a botched hijacking in KwaZulu-Natal. The news was confirmed by anti-crime advocate Yusuf Abramjee on Thursday evening:

Hijacking leaves two women dead

The province is already reeling from the devastating effects of torrential rain and widespread floods. At least 12 people have died as a result of these extreme conditions, including two people who were killed when a tornado swept through New Hanover. COGTA have since told the public they are forecasting rain to intensify overnight, and they’re expecting further loss of life.

It makes this situation even more cruel and callous. At a time where communities must band together, mindless thugs are exploiting the situation for their own nefarious intentions. The incident was reported just before 16:00, and we’ve been lead to understand there are two suspects. A police investigation has been opened.

Isipingo community rocked by double murder

The pair are said to have arrived in a Hyundai H100, pulling up on a road at Loftus Park. They targeted a silver VW Polo that had been parked at an intersection. A scuffle ensued, before the robbers pulled the trigger on their victims. Both women were declared dead at the scene. Needless to say, social media users have been left horrified by the incident.
