Human remains have been discovered on Sunset Beach in Milnerton‚ Cape Town.

Police officers were called to the scene after a dog apparently dug up what appears to be partially decomposed human remains. An image circulating on social media shows the skeletal remains, which are attached to a pair of rotting feet.

The gruesome discovery has been confirmed by police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk who refused to reveal details of the investigation currently underway. As reported by News24, van Wky said:

“Milnerton police attended to a complaint in Sunset Beach‚ Milnerton.

On their arrival at the scene, the police found human remains, and an inquest was opened and is still under investigation.”

Unverified images from the scene show femur‚ tibia and fibula leg bones on the sand. The macabre discovery was reported on Thursday.

Van Wyk confirmed that “[A] DNA test and post-mortem will be conducted for [the] cause of death and identity.”
