Did you know that you can track your application for the SASSA’s R350 Social Relief Of Distress (SRD)

HERE IS HOW TO TRACK YOUR APPLICATION

Once you’ve submitted your application, you can track it on Whatsapp.

This is one of the few platforms that SASSA has given applicants as an option to track the progress of their applications.

Click here for more questions and answers on SASSA.

Just follow these six easy steps:

  • Add 082 046 8553 as a contact
  • Open your WhatsApp and refresh your contacts
  • Open a chat with the (082 046 8553) number you have saved
  • Send a message to the number saying ‘status.’
  • Now you will be able to check the progress on your grant.
  • Once your chat has been received, you will then be required to provide your ID number and the cellphone number you used when applying for the grant.

There is no specific payment date for the R350 grant, as it is a temporary grant coming to an end in March 2022.

SASSA has started the process of paying out the grant to successful beneficiaries. Those who have not yet received payments have been urged to wait until they receive a text message from SASSA, before trying to collect the grant.

“The post office does not pay the SRD grant during the normal social grant payments of the Old Age, disability and children’s grants”

SASSA explained that the last three digits of approved beneficiaries’ identity numbers would be used for payment collection on a specific day of the week.

“This will help minimize the spread of Covid-19 infections and allow for social distancing on pay days.”

Approved beneficiaries will be reviewed monthly to ensure that they still meet the requirements to receive payments.

President Ramaphosa has recently outlined his ambitions to extend and expand the R350 grant from its current form.

The financial lifeline is thought to be supporting roughly 10 million South Africans – but Cyril wants to take things further.
