“It is further alleged that the deceased is a homeless white man and approximately 30 years old. There is a lead that is being followed about his family.”

Langa said necessary investigative aids were summoned to the scene and investigations surrounding the incident were ongoing.

Meanwhile, the IPID also confirmed that it is investigating the shooting incident in which a 31-year-old nurse was shot seven times by a police officer at the Tembisa Hospital on Wednesday morning.

It is reported that a police officer aged 31 years old attached to Ekurhuleni Cluster Tracing Team went to Tembisa Hospital where his girlfriend aged 31 years was working as a nurse.

“On his arrival, he called his girlfriend to come out at the parking lot. The girlfriend went out and they started arguing,” said IPID spokesperson Grace Langa.

While arguing, the police officer took out a firearm and started shooting at her about seven times hitting her in the head and neck after which he turned a gun to himself.
