Hlaudi Motsoeneng is a lot like the flu, isn’t he? Even when it seemingly goes away, you just know it’ll be back to haunt you at some point.

The former SABC head honcho missed a scheduled appearance in Joburg Labour Court yesterday, citing his ill-health as a reason for his no-show.

Whatever he’s suffering from, it is a type of illness that stops you from going to court, but causes you no issues whatsoever when it comes to hosting a press conference about yourself.

Hlaudi was at his ‘speaking in third-person best’ as he rattled off rants about SABC’s current board, his 90% local input policy and his own plans for the future.

In Tweets: How Hlaudi’s presser unfolded:

  • He blasted the current board and executives for the way they run SABC.

  • Then, he fired a warning to the world…

The only danger Hlaudi has so far posed seems to be towards his employers and their bank balances. He ended his briefing by claiming that SABC are no longer ‘telling good stories’, continuing his vendetta against the new ownership.

His threat to become ‘more dangerous’ wouldn’t be out of place in a Star Wars film. But that’s Hlaudi – a man who loves to be centre of attention. If he isn’t being talked about, he throws a sham conference to air his personal beliefs.

We’re taking all of Motsoeneng’s claims with a pinch of salt.
