The initial hijacking was reported to the Morreesburg police station on 29 May, according to South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Ndakhe Gwala.

“Eight suspects aged between 29 and 49 were arrested for the possession of stolen goods, contravention of the Second Hand Goods Act and Contravening Infrastructure Criminal Amendment Act,” said Gwala.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 29 June, on the aforementioned charges.
