Hawks arrest bogus medical doctor treating patients Polokwane

The Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation arrested a bogus medical doctor for practising without a license in Polokwane, Limpopo.

The Hawks arrested a bogus medical doctor today, Wednesday, 7 June for practising without a license in Polokwane, Limpopo.

BOGUS MEDICAL DOCTOR SET TO APPEAR IN COURT FACING FRAUD CHARGES

The 42-year-old man is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, Thursday 8 June 2023 following his arrest by the Polokwane-based Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigation members for alleged fraud.

HOW THE HAWKS POUNCED ON THE FRAUDSTER

“The Hawks team received information from the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) about someone who was allegedly practising as a medical Doctor without a license in Polokwane,” said Lieutenant Colonel Matimba Maluleke.

“The team tactically visited the surgery and found the suspect treating patients as if allowed by the law. After failing to produce the license to practice as a medical doctor, the suspect was placed under arrest.,” Maluleke confirmed the arrest.

LAW ENFORCEMENT LOOKING FOR A MAN LINKED TO CIT ROBBERY FROM LAST MONTH

Meanwhile, the Hawks members from Nelspruit Serious Organised Crime  Investigation in addressing the scourge of Cash-in-Transit (CIT) robberies requires help in locating a man of interest.

This is in connection with a CIT robbery incident that occurred in Mhala on 17 May 2023 on the New Forest main road.
“The person depicted in the photograph may possibly assist the Hawks in the armed robbery investigation,” the Hawks report read.

Therefore, the Hawks have encouraged anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Mpumalanga Serious Organised Crime Investigation’s D/WO Elbert de Lange on 071 481 2815, SAPS Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or alternatively leave an anonymous tip-off on the MySAPS App.
