Have you seen this missing Eastern Cape girl? Police seek assistance

Police are looking for a 12-year-old girl who has been missing since 21 August 2021 and was last seen not too far from her home in Khans Ground, Missionvale.

Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said police are seeking the community’s assistance in tracing the girl, Gerchlene Samson.

“It is alleged that on the 21 August 2021 at approximately 09:00, Gerchlene informed her mother that she is going to visit an aunt, not too far from her home in Khans Ground, Missionvale.

“At around 10:00, her mother went looking for her, but she had left the house of the aunt. They searched all over for her and visited her friends but were unable to trace her.”

On Wednesday, 25 August 2021, the mother reported her missing at SAPS Algoa Park.

“She was wearing a pink top with a printed black female character, blue pants, and blue flip flops at the time.”

Police are appealing to anyone who can assist in locating Gerchlene Samson, in urgently contacting D/Sgt Timothy Minyayo on 071 475 1731or Crime Stop 08600 10111 or their nearest police station.

PENSIONER ALSO MISSING IN

Police are also looking for a missing pensioner who disappeared with no trace.

Thivhadini Gerson Tshivhanda (79) of Tshitavha village went missing on the 19 August 2021.

“It is alleged that on 19 August 2021 at about 06:45, the nephew who shares the residence with the missing pensioner woke up in the morning and discovered that the victim was not in his room in the house.

“The nephew then called the victim’s son who came, and they searched around, and he was nowhere to be found.”

The police were notified, and the search was extended to close friends, family around the villages, places he frequent to visit, and the nearby bushes, but the elderly man’s whereabouts could not be established.

He is dark in complexion, medium built, with a bald head, and was seen wearing brown trousers and a black and white striped Jersey.
