THE GRIM DETAILS WERE REVEALED AS HER LITTLE BODY WAS FOUND

Bontle Zethu Ditebogo Mashiyane, aged six, was reported missing on Saturday, 30 April 2022, by her family after she was last seen playing with other children nearby.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the discovery of the little girl’s body was made on Saturday, 21 May 2022, at Mganduzweni near White River.

“The investigation team was led to a scene where her body was thrown in the thick bushes, not far from her homestead (about 2 kilometers from her residence).”

HERE IS WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT HER BRUTAL MURDER THUS FAR:

Here are the GRIM details that we know about her BRUTAL murder scale of depravity is next level:

  • Her little partially decomposed mutilated body was found in a state of decomposition.
  • There is a video in circulation where a man alleges that they were sent by a traditional healer who wanted female body parts to be used for traditional purposes.

Meanwhile, Bontle’s mother, Permission Seipane, has reportedly given premature birth to a baby boy.

Bontle’s aunt Sharon Mashiyane told Sowetan on Sunday that Seipane delivered the baby on Thursday. She was eight months pregnant.

BONTLE’S MOTHER HAS GIVEN PREMATURE BIRTH TO A BABY BOY DUE TO STRESS

“The mother is too hurt, she’s not coping. She’s at her home and we believe this (premature birth) had to do with the stress she suffered with the disappearance of her child,” said Mashiyane.

The three suspects arrested for the little girl’s murder appeared before Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 23 May 2022.

They face four charges of kidnapping, human trafficking, rape and murder.

Collen Hlongwane (36), Thapelo Ngomane (25), and Ntombi Mgwenya (40) were remanded in custody until 24 June, as they applied for legal aid assistance.

Police said the three did not want to apply for bail.

The Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe condemned Bontle’s BRUTAL murder where a Sangoma (traditional healer) is alleged to have been involved in the kidnapping and murder.

Shongwe said this is purely evil and inhuman and should not be allowed in communities. He furthermore said that traditional healers should be in the forefront to fight Gender-Based Violence and the killing of women and not perpetrators.

‘WE HAVE NO PLACE FOR TRADITIONAL HEALERS WHO RELY ON THE DEATH OF PEOPLE TO HEAL’

“We have no place for traditional healers who rely on the death of other people in order to heal. In fact, those should not be regarded as traditional healers but as criminals. True traditional healers don’t hurt others to heal another.

“We cannot accept any form of criminality in the name of traditional healing. True traditional healers must expose those who are using this gift to destroy and kill others,” he said.

The MEC calls on community members to work hand in hand with the police in order to stop this evil work by criminals who hide behind the gift of traditional healing. The MEC says what has happened is severely heartbreaking and is a disgrace to our province.

“No matter how poor you are, you must never think of hunting human beings in order to bring food to the table. Indeed, this can never be a justification for brutally killing another human being in that manner,” he said.

THIS CAN NEVER BE A JUSTIFICATION FOR BRUTALLY MURDERING SOMEONE

Meanwhile, the MEC says the incident where a traditional healer assisted the police in arresting suspects linked to the killing of Hillary Gardee should be commended.

He said that when healers are approached by criminals to cleanse them, they should be reported to the police as the traditional healer in the Gardee case did.

“Traditional healers who help criminals are equally criminals; they should be arrested too and removed from our societies as they too encourage crime,” he concluded.
