There is a true fiery battle and disaster in Korsten, Gqeberha. The local taxi drivers and local Somalian nationals are believed to have started a frenzied fight on Wednesday 13 October. Mzansi is left open-mouthed at the warzone scenes.

BURNING TAXIS IN KORSTEN, GQEBERHA

A video posted on social media by Mzansi’s leading crime activist, Yusuf Abramjee, shows about three taxis engulfed in flames during daylight on Durban Road, Gqeberha.

“Durban Road, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth). Taxis set alight. Video as received,” said Abramjee’s caption without added details.

WAR WITH SOMALIAN SHOP OWNERS

According to several comments on social media, it is claimed that the burning taxis are the cause of a fight between Korsten taxi drivers and Somali nationals in the area.

“Burning Taxis! In Korsten Area of Gqeberha.There is a conflict between taxi drivers and the Somalian community. SA Natives be wiser!!!,” said @xuberaird before deleting the post.

Algoa FM News later reported that the violence was sparked by “an altercation between taxi drivers and Somalian shop owners.

“Police in Gqeberha and several other role-players are on scene at the taxi rank in Korsten where an altercation between taxi drivers and Somalian shop owners escalated. Several vehicles and a shop were set alight. This is a developing story image supplied,” the outlet said.
