Alleged child sex ring leader, Gerhard Ackerman’s bail has been revoked after he reportedly violated his “relaxed” bail conditions.

Alleged child sex ring leader, Gerhard Ackerman’s bail has been revoked by the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg.
Ackerman was arrested by residents who spotted him at a shopping centre in Florida, Johannesburg after a warrant of his arrest was issued by the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
GERHARD ACKERMAN’S BAIL REVOKED
Ackerman failed to appear in court on Thursday, 26 January January citing ill health. He also failed to provide a medical certificate to the court as proof that he was sick and he did visit a doctor. He reportedly used the day to move to Pretoria and also claimed in court that the certificate was misplaced with his wallet.
As previously reported, members of the public recognised Ackerman from the photographs of him circulated by the local media, which is what led to his arrest in a shopping centre in Florida, Johannesburg, on Sunday morning, 29 January.
NPA spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane said people immediately arrested Ackerman and called the local South African Police Service (SAPS) officials who acted swiftly to effect the warrant of arrest.

On Wednesday, 1 February, Presiding Judge Ismail Mohamed ordered he remain in jail under suicide watch.
Mohamed described as a travesty of justice that it was only picked up now that Ackerman’s bail conditions were unlawfully changed. They were changed unprocedurally in the Magistrates Court in December 2022 after the matter was transferred to the High Court, reportedly.
Ackerman faces 740 charges ranging from rape, attempted murder, distribution of child porn, human trafficking of minor children for sexual exploitation
Ackerman is alleged to have run a child sex ring in Johannesburg, where he would lure teenage boys in and link them with adult men who would require massages that would escalate to rape.
