A stretch of the R562 in Diepsloot has been affected by a large fire at the side of the road in Diepsloot. Driving conditions for the route heading towards William Nicol Drive have been deemed extremely hazardous, with long delays reported.

Gauteng traffic latest – Diepsloot fire causes havoc
We’ve had it confirmed that a hydrocarbon manufacturing plant is currently ablaze. The R511 to William Nicol Drive is closed off to traffic between the N14 and Mnandi Road due to a burning compost plant on Summit Road – at this stage you can expect more than a 30-minute delay when trying to access this stretch of road.

When will it be safe to travel on William Nicol R511?
The fire has caused abject chaos on the morning commute, with thousands of people having to change their routes as they head to work. This blaze continues to rage, as firefighters are set for a long day trying to contain the flames.
It’s not yet been established when the roads will be reopened, or when it will be safe to pass through the R562. The route to William Nicol Drive is likely to remain shut for a few more hours on Wednesday
