GARTH SIMPSON BAIL APPLICATION DENIED

KZN National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said Simpson was denied bail by the Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

“Simpson appeared on a charge of murder, relating to the death of 17-year-old Qiniso Dlamini. He also faces charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition,” said the NPA spokesperson.

Dlamini and his relatives were reportedly tracking their cattle on 28 September and found the animals on Simpson’s farm where a fatal altercation took place. The incident was captured on video.

The Dlamini family and members of the Endumeni community previously said that they want Simpson’s bail application to be denied.

Simpson’s next court appearance is expected on 26 November 2021 as the matter has been postponed for further investigations, according to the NPA.

Last week, minority civil rights interest group Afriforum, announced its intent to provide Garth Simpson with legal assistance. “It is a fact that several national concerns are playing out on this issue. Farmers and people in rural areas are confronted daily with the reality of farm murders, land grabs, threats of expropriation, increasing crime rates and an inefficient police service,” said Ernst Roets.
