Free State: Couple found MURDERED, suspect being sought

According to SAPS, the Free State couple was found dead inside their car that had been parked on the side of the road

The South African Police Service (SAPS) in the Free State has launched a manhunt after a couple in the Lejweleputswa district was found murdered inside their car.

“On Thursday, 07July 2022 between 15:00 and 16:00 police received information of shooting incident on the R64 road between Dealesville and Boshoff road. On arrival they found a White Triber sedan parked on the side of the road.  The car was travelling from Dealesville to Boshoff. Two people were found dead who were later identified as Lucas Moleme (52) and his wife Lyntjie Moleme (50),” said SAPS Free State spokesperson Sinah Mpakane.

SAPS Free State has said that for now, no arrests have been made, nor has the motive for the couple’s murder been established.

Further describing the scene of the crime, Mpakane said: “A male victim was lying next to a car with a gunshot wound on the head and a woman still on a sitting position in the car. She was also having a gunshot wound on the head. Victims were both staying in Boshoff and are owners of Kgakgamatso Mortuary. No one is arrested.  The motive of the killing is unknown”

Those with information they believe is relevant to the murder case and can lead to the arrest of suspects have been urged to contact investigating officer W/O Nel of Thabong Detectives on 082 806 8432.

It was earlier this week that an elderly couple was found murdered on their farm near Moorreesburg allegedly by a man recently released on parole.

Frans (69) and Ingrid (65) Koch were attacked and overpowered in their home on Tuesday morning.

Ingrid was stabbed multiple times and died on the scene due to her injuries. Her husband, Frans, who suffered severe stab wounds, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg reportedly said a 34-year-old man was arrested for the HORRIFIC murders.
