Police foiled a planned armed robbery and arrested four men before they could rob a customer about to deposit a large amount of cash

On Tuesday, 3 January 2023, Durban Central police stopped a planned armed robbery and detained four suspects near the intersection of Anton Lembede and Gardener Streets.
Police discovered a vehicle with four people inside it parked on the side of the road while they were performing standard patrol operations.
The officers moved toward the car as their policing instincts took over.
The suspects were discovered to be in illegal possession of two weapons and 18 live rounds of ammunition when the car was searched.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the four were preparing to rob a customer who was about to deposit a large sum of money.
