Four entrapped in a horrific truck accident at the N12 Edenvale intersection

Four people were found entrapped on Friday on Edenvale Road after a truck had ploughed through the N12 intersection crushing a light motor vehicle before it overturned.
TWO PEOPLE WERE CRITICALLY INJURED
Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenen said paramedics responded to the accident at 09:00 on Friday morning.
“On arrival on the scene, paramedics were met with absolute carnage as a heavy articulated vehicle had ploughed through the intersection, crushing a light motor vehicle, before overturning.”
He said four people were found to be entrapped in the wreckage, and fire and rescue services utilized the Jaws-of-Life to cut them free, to enable paramedics to assess and treat the injured.

“Two men, aged between 40 and 50, were found in a critical condition and were treated and stabilized on the scene before being taken to hospital under the care of Emergency Care Advanced Life Support Practitioners from Emer-G-Med and Netcare911.”
Van Reenen said two other occupants suffered moderate injuries and were treated and stabilized on the scene before being taken to the hospital for further care.
“At this stage, the cause of the collision is unclear and will form the subject of a South African Police Services investigation.”
