Axe-wielding, machete swinging ‘gangs’ of foreigners have started patrolling the streets in an attempt to protect their own, while others flee major centres
The sh*t has quite literally hit the fan. The Daily Mail on Friday reported that foreign gangs organising themselves into militia-like patrols, are attacking the very South Africans who’ve been threatening them with violence.
While the SAPS do their best to calm the situation, South Africans are tracked down and assaulted for threatening foreigners, with the subsequent retaliation from the local vigilantes even more gruesome than before.
Foreign nationals are seen beaten in the streets, while their weapon-wielding counterparts try and protect what little they’ve got left. The streets of Johannesburg have become a war-zone, and innocent bystanders are starting to experience the effects of this street conflict.
The South African police service is tackling the issue on two fronts, one by acting as a barrier between foreign and local aggressors and on the other hand raiding men’s hostels in order to disarm as many people as they can.
Violence begets violence.
