FLORIDA WOMAN ARRESTED

According to the Associated Press (AP), guards searching visitors at the DeSoto Correctional Institution found nearly 100 grams of drugs on her during the jail’s check-in process.

County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the Florida woman and allowed a K-9 member to conduct a “free air sniff” of the suspect’s car.

An additional 687 grams of cocaine and heroin were found in the car alongside a baby’s car seat and other essential items.

The woman was charged with trafficking in heroin and cocaine, the introduction of contraband into a correctional facility, child abuse/neglect and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The infant was taken into the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
