‘Go f*** yourself’: Fikile Mbalula gets sweary in his latest Twitter meltdown

Hell hath no fury like the Transport Minister opening up his Twitter mentions. Here’s what pushed Fikile Mbalula to drop an F-bomb on Monday.

You’ve got to have a lot of energy to willingly choose to start your working week off like this: Fikile Mbalula has embarked upon a ferocious Tweeting session on Monday, calling out his critics in bombastic fashion. However, the Minister for Transport – and apparently, social media – lost his cool at one stage.

‘Go f*** yourself’, Mbalula tells Twitter users

One has to wonder what Mbaks put in his coffee this morning: An exchange with a citizen prompted a snarling response from Mbalula, who took offence to being called a ‘political prostitute’ due to his wavering views on Jacob Zuma: The firebrand politician defended himself – with a little help from the F-bomb, of course.

“I am not a ‘political prostitute’. I am saying stuff you don’t like. There’s also a big difference with [my support for] Malusi Gigaba. Besides, I have got files on you criminals – go f*** yourself… I am ready for you.”

Fikile Mbalula’s latest Twitter meltdown explained

This outburst from Fikile Mbalula may not be swept under the carpet. At the back end of last year, we saw the ANC censure Tito Mboweni for his inappropriate use of Twitter – and a similar punishment may be dished out following the sweary retort.

The minister did, at least, compose himself later on in the piece, explaining why he has drifted away from backing Jacob Zuma over the years. The 49-year-old accused Msholozi of ‘doing more harm to the ANC’ than anyone else has before:

“Zuma organised in 2017, with a firm belief that [his candidate Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma] will win. We all got shocked… long live! David Mabuza is saving us from this ‘monarchy disaster’. Zuma did more harm to the ANC than anyone. Today we are called upon to praise him. We respect him – but don’t try us about his weaknesses”

He also found time to call Carl Niehaus ‘a bastard’ on Monday…
