Deputy Secretary-General 1 will be Nomvula Mokonyane, while the position of Deputy Secretary-General 2 will be fulfilled by Ramopene Ramokgopa.

However, Mbalula’s inclusion has raised several eyebrows.

Author Gareth van Onselen took to Twitter to post: “Fikile Mbalula is, in many ways, a metaphor for the ANC: utterly incompetent, utterly unaware of his incompetence, yet relentlessly rewarded promoted. His rise mirrors the ANC’s fall.”

Meanwhile, another author, Ben Trovato, posted: “Fikile Mbalula elected ANC Secretary-General. How many more nails can this coffin take?”
