15-year-old stabbed dead on the way to school – two arrested

Ferguson Volminck was allegedly stabbed in the chest on Wednesday. The police arrested two suspects – aged 16 and 21 – on the same day.

The police in the Eastern Cape arrested two suspects for their alleged involvement in the murder of a 15-year-old schoolboy on Wednesday morning, 31 August.

POLICE ARREST TWO FOR TEENAGER’S STABBING

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Captain Gerda Swart said the incident occurred in Kamesh at approximately 7:45.

The 15-year-old, Ferguson Volminck, was walking along McCarthy Street on his way to school when he was approached by a group. He was allegedly stabbed in the chest with a knife.

“Volminck’s father was informed about the incident and rushed his son to a local hospital for medical treatment, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries,” said Swart.

Detectives from the Kamesh police station managed to track down two suspects on the same day, including another teenager.

Two men – aged 16 and 21 – were arrested at their respective homes at approximately 17:50. The motive for the 15-year-old’s murder is yet to be established and the investigation continues.

The arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Kariega Magistrate’s Court on Friday, 2 September, charged with murder.

In an unrelated incident, in the Eastern Cape, a 15-year-old boy was allegedly hacked to death on school grounds during a fight.
