The family of four was injured were when they lost control of their bakkie and rolled into trees next to R71 pass.
According to ER24 emergency services, the accident happened on Saturday afternoon.
“A family of four have been injured after allegedly losing control of their bakkie, clipping an oncoming truck and rolling into the trees on the side of the R71 pass which winds through the Magoebaskloof between Polokwane and Tzaneen in the Limpopo Province on Saturday,” it said.
Paramedics were on the scene at 16:30, along with another private service that had already initiated treatment of the patients.
“A boy, aged eight or nine years, had been on the back of the bakkie and allegedly jumped as the bakkie rolled. He luckily suffered only moderate injuries.”
“The father also suffered moderate injuries in the incident and was treated and transported to Mediclinic Tzaneen for further care by the other private service on the scene. The mother, believed to be in her 30s and pregnant, luckily suffered only minor injuries and their baby, who was in the front with mom, was uninjured in the incident,” ER24 said.
The injured mom, baby, and boy were transported to the Van Velden Hospital for further treatment.
The Mopani Fire & Rescue, the SAPS, and many other EMS services were all on the scene, along with the Haenertsburg Neighbourhood Watch, who were first on the scene.
