The SA Weather Services issued a warning for extreme heatwave conditions for the Northern Cape and Western Cape on Monday.

Scorching weather is expected in the Northern and Western Cape on Monday.
The SA Weather Service (SAWS) said temperatures are expected to reach 39 in some areas.
“Avoid prolonged direct exposure to the sun as far as possible and drink plenty of water. Limit strenuous outdoor activities, find shade and stay hydrated.”
Furthermore, the SAWS warned never to leave kids in the car unattended and make sure your animals have access to enough water.
“In an extremely hot environment, the most serious health and safety concern is heatstroke. Heatstroke can be fatal if medical attention is not available immediately.”

Heatstroke is a condition caused by your body overheating, usually as a result of prolonged exposure to or physical exertion in high temperatures. This most serious form of heat injury, heatstroke, can occur if your body temperature rises to 104 F (40 C) or higher. The condition is most common in the summer months.
