Residents in areas served by the SCA Pipeline System should prepare for a temporary water supply interruption due to essential maintenance.

Residents living in various areas supplied through the South Coast Augmentation (SCA) Pipeline System are advised to prepare for a temporary interruption in their water supply. This inconvenience is a result of essential maintenance work being carried out on the pumping line.

On 25 October, the City will temporarily shut down the SCA Booster Pumpstation starting from 9:00. The purpose of this shutdown is to perform necessary pump. And also valve maintenance on the pumping line.

The maintenance work is expected to be completed in the afternoon. Following which the normal pumping of water will resume.

Athlone Park, Ezimbokodweni, Amanzimtoti CBD, Almond, Kingsburgh, Doonside, Illovo Beach, Panorama Park, Umgababa, Mgobhozini, Mfume, KwaSoni, Mashiwase, Nkwali, Lovu, Bhekulwandle, KwaMakhutha, Mkhazini, KwaFakazi, KwaMgendwa, Mahlathini, Ohlongeni, eKuphileni, Adams Mission, Umnini, Magabheni, Ehlanzeni, Thoyane, Umkhomazi, Craigeburn, Amahlongwa, Amalundi, Crowder Farm, Malabar Hills, Isiphingo Rail, Reunion, uMlazi V, uMlazi Mission A, Isiphingo Beach, Isiphingo Hills, Orient Hills, Prospecton Industrial, uMlazi T, Lotus Park, and Malukazi.

The interruption is a necessary step to ensure the continued efficiency and reliability of the water supply system in these regions.

The Municipality understands that this temporary interruption may cause inconvenience to the affected residents. However, they assure residents that the maintenance work is crucial for ensuring the longevity and quality of the water supply infrastructure.

What are residents encouraged to do?

In the meantime, residents are encouraged to make necessary arrangements. To minimize the impact of the interruption on their daily activities.

“The Municipality extends its apologies for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their understanding and cooperation during this essential maintenance period,” read the statement.
