Ethekwini Municipality warns of electricity outage in some areas

Here’s a list of all the areas in eThekwini Municipality that may be affected by the planned maintenance power outage this week.

eThekwini Municiality has warned Durban residents of a planned electricity outage for maintenance purposes in some parts of the city this week.

eThekwini Municipality informed residents that people living in Ntuzuma could expect an electricity outage for most of the day on Thursday. Fortunately, the city indicated that the electricity will be switched back on before dark at 4pm.

 “Residents living around Ntuzuma are advised of a planned power outage at the Ntuzuma Substation due to maintenance work,” eThekwini Municipality said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The maintenance forms part of improving the reliability and quality of power supply. The outage is due to take place on Thursday, 19 August from 8am to 4pm,” the municipality added.

The municipality indicated that the following areas will be impacted by the power outage: Inanda, Glebelands, KwaMashu (H and M sections), and Ntuzuma (A, B, E, F and G sections). 

“Residents are urged to note the planned power outage and plan accordingly. The city appeals for patience while the maintenance work is being carried out and apologises for any inconvenience caused,” eThekwini municipality said.

The city further warned all residents in the affected areas to treat installations as live.
