Another Eskom blunder, issues with load shedding schedules

On top of dealing with Eskom’s bouts of load shedding, South African citizens now have no way of preparing for it.

Embattled power utility Eskom can’t seem to catch a break after they made yet another blunder — this time they cited issues with the load shedding schedules on their website and social media users are not having it.

Another dreadful round of load shedding returned on Thursday 30 January 2020. Eskom later announced that unfortunately, the stage 2 blackouts would continue throughout the weekend right up until Monday 3 February.

As to be expected, South African citizens are furious and cannot handle the instability and inconvenience any longer.

Eskom announces issues with load shedding schedules

As if the return of darkness wasn’t enough, the State-Owned Enterprise admitted on Saturday 1 February 2020 — in the midst of frustration — that the load shedding schedules are not depicting what they’re supposed to.

Now, citizens are not only having to deal with power outages, but also a lack of information thereof. Not being able to prepare for load shedding and having it happen unexpectedly was probably not the best move for the power utility.

Either way, they had this to say:

“Dear Customers. We are aware of issues with the Eskom load shedding schedules on the website. Our teams are currently attending to the problem. We apologise for any inconvenience. We will keep you updated.”

Twitter users go in for the kill

Big surprise — Eskom’s tweet was not taken well and of course, Twitter users took to expressing their anger via the comments section.

“First you cannot be reliable with your electricity supply and then you mess up the schedules for people to find ways to live around your stuff up?” said a user.

“We can’t provide electricity, we can’t provide a schedule…but we know how to loot,”

“Please can you explain how Stage 2 load shedding, according to your website, has gone from “6 times in 8 days” to “9 times in 3 days”. What is the reason for the massive ramp up under stage 2? Has stage 2 been changed to stage 4?”

Another user asked Eskom why the power was off in Mogale City in Gauteng for nine hours the day before, on Saturday too and was expected again on Sunday. That’s a total of 27 hours without power in just three days.

“Can someone please tell me why Mogale City has been load shedded for 9 hours yesterday and again today. I see on the “updated schedule” tomorrow will be 9 hours again. For stage 2, that is ridiculous. Is this municipality in arrears or what?” they asked.

“Can’t provide a schedule, can’t provide electricity…..just useless all round!”

Twitter user in response to Eskom

“Finally!!! After 17 hours of complaining, you wake up!!!!”
