Eskom surprised South Africans early on Sunday morning by announcing that load shedding would be reduced to Stage 4 with immediate effect.

In a tweet posted at 08:57, the power utility confirmed that Stage 4 load shedding would be implemented from 09:00 until further notice.
Eskom promised to publish a full statement in due course.
Late on Saturday Eskom reduced load shedding from Stage 6 to Stage 5.
