You know, it’s like lions don’t want to be held captive…

You know, every time we do a story about a lion on the loose, we joke about Americans thinking they roam around freely.
There’s another lion on the loose now and that joke still stands true. Sure, the lion escaped, but seriously…
EWN reports that Limpopo police were searching for a lion that escaped from a trailer outside Tzaneen over the weekend.
Apparently TWO lions actually escaped, but the one was caught after it was injured. The police’s Moatshe Ngoepe said a search was underway for the other one.
“If a lion is on the loose, the lives of our people might be in danger. Let them pay extra care whenever they are moving around the area but on the same note, when they see it, let them immediately contact the nearest police station.”
Eyewitnesses report that the lions were seen in the pine plantations near Vula-Vula in the Georges Valley area after they escaped.
The lions were apparently being transported from one enclosure to another. A statement on the official South African Police Service website makes mention of one lion being caught, but does not give details on the other one – it is unclear if one lion is still on the loose.
You know, it’s almost as if wild animals are not supposed to be held captive…
Anyway, Twitter had all the jokes, obviously.
