Eldorado Park shooting: Four people, including two learners, shot

The police said three of the wounded victims are in hospital in a serious but stable condition. No arrests have been made.

The police in Gauteng is on the hunt for three suspects who allegedly opened fire on a group of people in Eldorado Park, Johannesburg on Wednesday, 8 June.

South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Mavela Masondo said the shooting took place at approximately 12:00.

Masondo said the preliminary investigation suggests that the three suspects pulled up next to one of the flats in Eldorado Park and randomly opened fire.

“Four people were injured and sustained gunshot wounds. Three of the victims, including two learners, were taken to a nearby hospital,” said the police spokesperson.

The hospitalised victims are considered to be in a serious but stable condition. The fourth victim sustained minor injuries.

The motive for the shooting is yet to be established. Members of the public with information pertaining to the matter are encouraged to contact their nearest police station or Crime Stop at 08600-10111.

In an unrelated incident, four men were shot and killed in Khayelitsha, Cape Town on Tuesday night, June.

The assailants entered Madiba Supermarket in R588 Sulani Drive and let off several gunshots at approximately 19:00.

Three men died inside the supermarket. The fourth was transported to a hospital for treatment where he later succumbed to his gunshot wounds.

The motive for the shooting incident is yet to be determined and no arrests have been made thus far.
