Elderly homeowner found dead after house fire

In a space of a month, another elderly person in Durban has been killed inside their home when the house caught fire

An elderly homeowner was found dead following a Mosley Park house fire in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal.

“Just after 16h30 on Wednesday Emer-G-Med paramedics responded to the scene of a house fire in Glen Place in the Mosley Park area, west of Durban.

Reports from the scene are that an elderly female was declared dead on arrival of paramedics after suffering fatal burn injuries when her home caught fire,” part of the report read.

Emer-G-Med went on to state that the blaze, which its cause is unknown, was extinguished by members of the Ethekwini Fire and Rescue services.

“The South African Police Services were in attendance and will be conducting the necessary investigation accordingly.”

ANOTHER ELDERLY KILLED IN HOUSE FIRE IN DURBAN

This incident comes after the death of another elderly in Athlone, Durban last month.

The elderly man died after his house caught fire in Durban North. When medics arrived on the scene, the house was well alight with smoke billowing from the roof and windows.

The eThekwini Fire and Rescue Services managed to douse the flames, however, most of the house had been destroyed in the inferno.
Also, the circumstances leading up to the fire remained unknown but the Greenwood Park SAPS was on scene to investigate the matter.
