Cairo to Cape: Solo woman cyclist ends six-month journey in Mother City

Eilidh Ogden was greeted by officials from the City of Cape Town after cycling the length of the continent alone.

Eilidh Ogden ended a six-month cycling odyssey in Cape Town on Saturday, 2 July. She started her journey near the top of the continent in Cairo, Egypt.

EILIDH OGDEN CYCLED FROM CAIRO TO CAPE TOWN

According to the City of Cape Town, Eilidh Ogden cycled through several countries and cities, alone, over the last six months.

The Acting MayCo Member for Community Services and Health, Grant Twigg, welcomed the cyclist to The Mother City on Saturday. He described Eilidh as one of an elite group of women that have cycled the length of the continent.

 “Her tenacity, courage and determination to complete her solo cycling adventure is an amazing personal achievement. We are honoured that Cape Town was her final destination in an epic journey and wish her well on her future endeavours,” said Twigg.
