EFF CALLS RESIGNATION OF PRESIDENT RAMAPHOSA

EFF leader Julius Malema has called for a national shutdown to demand an end to the electricity crisis and also to force President Cyril Ramaphosa to resign as president of the country.

Malema said that the EFF believes the time has come for South Africans to demand their dignity and lives back. He made these remarks at a press conference on Sunday, 29 January 2023.

“We call on all people of South Africa to join us in their numbers for the national shutdown to demand our dignity and lives back. We can never allow and should never allow to be led into the dark ages by an incompetent and useless president.”

MALEMA SAYS IT WILL BE A ‘HISTORIC SHUTDOWN’

According to Malema, “all sectors and spheres of society are invited to form part of this historic shutdown.”

“The national shutdown means that there will be no school, no university, factories and no business will be operating on that day.

All municipalities and all major cities will be shut own and there will be no work on that day. All major roads will be barricaded and all ports of entry including roads that lead to borders will be closed.”

He added that trucks transporting minerals to Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal will stand a standstill on the day.

He stated that the streets would only remain open for emergency and essential services.

EFF PLANS TO MARCH TO THE UNION BUILDING

According to the EFF, the shutdown is also encouraged by various factors. The rising cost of living, unemployment, poverty, increasing crime levels, corruption, and collapsing infrastructure are among some of the things that led to this point.

On that day, the party plans to hand over a memorandum of demands at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.
