AfriForum says the EFF’s attempt to bring South Africa to a standstill with their national shutdown will fail.

AFRIFORUM IS READY FOR THE EFF SHUTDOWN

The organisation has more than 160 of their local neighbourhood watches on standby to help protect communities in residential areas and other security role players in cases where disruptions may occur.

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are planning a national shutdown for 20 March 2023 to get rid of President Cyril Rmaphosa and protest against the ongoing load shedding and socio-economic issues.

According to Jacques Broodryk, AfriForum’s spokesperson for community safety, the organisation’s thousands of neighbourhood watch volunteers are ready for the EFF national shutdown.

He said they are ready with their numerous drones and other safety equipment. This is to assist communities within the framework of the law, should circumstances require it.

NATIONAL SHUTDOWN: EFF BARKS MORE THAN BITE

Brooderyk says AfriForum neighbourhood watches have already drawn up contingency plans and communicate continuously with our network. Other role players are keeping a close eye on the situation. He said communities could go on with their lives as usual if they avoid the areas where isolated violence by the EFF may take place,

AFRIFORUM SAYS EFF IS POWERLESS

AfriForum Chief Executive Officer Kallie Kriel says the fact that the EFF chose a national school holiday for their national shutdown confirms that they lack the power to shut down the entire country.

Kriel said 90% of the public does not support the EFF. He said it would certainly not do the EFF’s health any favours if peace-loving communities exercise their inalienable right to protect their communities and themselves.
